Thomas (Tom) A. Nathan

NATHAN - Thomas A. Nathan (Tom), resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully in a local Hospice on Monday, January 12, 2009. He had struggled for several years with chronic lung disease (COPD) and its complications. Tom was born in Chicago on December 10th, 1924. He grew up in southern Illinois, but graduated from High School in Chicago. He served in the military during WWII, then graduated from Yale University, in part thanks to the GI Bill. His professional life was spent in Advertising, Public Relations and Printing Sales. He and his wife Virginia (Ginny) were married in Dallas in 1985. They moved to Albuquerque in 1998. Tom was an avid mountain climber in younger years. After moving to our area he was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, an enthusiastic bridge player through the Meadowlark Senior Center, a member of the Sandoval County Historical Society and Westerners International. He enjoyed substitute teaching in middle schools in Rio Rancho. He thoroughly enjoyed New Mexico history, culture and beautiful art work. Survivors include his wife, Ginny; his daughter, Lisa Brune, north Texas; his son, Michael Nathan, San Diego; his special granddaughter, Samantha (Sam) Brune and her Dad, Herman Brune, Columbus Texas; sister-in-law Dorothy Nathan, Salt Lake City; niece and her husband, Margaret and Kevin Kruke, Park City, Utah; and Ginny's three children and their families. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Tom's honor to the Albuquerque Opportunity Center, 715 Candelaria Rd. NE, 87107, phone 344-2323.
