Heaven gained a new angel when Timothy Jay Peterson, age 50, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2015. Tim is survived by his loving wife of thirty years Rhonda; his children Melanie and Tyler; and his grandson Emilio. He is also survived by his mother Kennye Decker; step-mother Marge Peterson; his brothers Wayne Peterson (Carrie), Stephen Lee (Elaine) and Michael Decker (Rita); his sisters Kelly Murray (Mike) and Melissa Lee; as well as his many beloved aunts, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Peterson, and step-father Pat Decker.
Tim was born on May 18, 1965 in Farmington NM to Gerald Peterson and Kennye Decker. He attended Farmington High School, graduating in 1983. Shortly after, he entered the United States Air Force in August 1984 and four months later married his high school sweetheart Rhonda. Together they began their new military life at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. Tim served his country active duty for over 21 years fulfilling assignments in various parts of the country and around the world. He spent the majority of his career as an OSI Special Agent for the Air Force. Throughout his military career he received numerous prestigious awards and decorations. He was very passionate about his military career and enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.
Tim was an incredibly kind and generous man who always put others before himself. He was a dedicated father who never missed a school activity or function. His smile and sense of humor would always bring joy and laughter to a room wherever he went. Tim could toss out a one-liner in just about any situation, usually quoting a funny movie line. On the weekends he loved going to Lobos and Isotopes games with his family. He was an amazingly loving father, husband, brother, son, mentor and friend and he will be missed greatly by all those who knew him.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sagebrush Community Church, 6440 Coors Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM with Military Honors.
