Age 89, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016. He was born in San Lorenzo, NM, on January 13, 1927, to Tomas Montoya and Lugarda Chavez.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen Montoya; son-in law Carl Benavides .
Tom is survived by daughters; Terry Benavides, Rita Ortiz and husband Gilbert, Christina Montoya and husband Michael, Lorraine Montoya-Vigil and husband Tim; granddaughters Andrea Ortiz, Irene Sisneros and husband Steve; grandsons; Christopher Montoya, Ryan Benavides and wife Samantha, Eric Vigil and Shawn Benavides; great-grandchildren Kylie, Jamie, Andres and Sisneros.
Tom worked at St. Mary's School for many years. He then worked for the City of Albuquerque until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed fishing and shared his love of the sport with his family and friends. He won many fishing awards from the North Valley Senior Club.
A rosary will be recited on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 5:00 pm, at The Daniels Family Funeral Carlisle Chapel.
Mass will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016, at 10:00 am, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
