Albuquerque - Tommy S. Southard of Albuquerque passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, April 13, 2016, following a battle with cancer.
He was born in Richlands, Virginia on August 5, 1942, and grew up in Appalachia, Virginia and moved to Albuquerque in 1963 as a member of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy; his three sons, Scott Southard, John Southard, and Billy Southard; daughters-in-law Sarah Sheldrick, Megan Anthony Southard, Kristen Southard; thirteen grandchildren; sister, Katherine Howard brother, Jim Southard and wife, Beulah. His family also included his dog Blade. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Pauline Southard; brother, Robert Southard; and sisters, Phyllis Gilliam and Virginia Southard.
He loved his crossword puzzles, college basketball and his family. He made friends with any stranger, anywhere and always had a good story to share about his new friends. Stubborn on the outside, but sweet and thoughtful inside, Tommy would remember every detail you'd ever told him. He will be greatly missed by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, April 16, 2016, at Daniels Family Funeral Services-Wyoming Chapel. Reception to follow in the Wyoming Sun Room Reception Center.
