Trinidad (Trinnie) Romero Bridge

March 5, 1940 — January 31, 2025

Albuquerque

I have run the course, I have finished the race; and kept the faith (as best I knew how). The time has come for me to check out of my earthly life and on to my final destination (eternity, God willing). I departed this life on January 31, 2025.

I was preceded in death by my husband, Bob, son, Scott, parents, Leonor Esquibel Romero and Marcos Romero, and sister Griselda.

I am survived by my sons, John Douglas (Linda), James (Angela), daughter in law Mary Intogna Bridge, granddaughters, Taylor and Sierra. Five sisters, Rayitos Byers, Rosie Maroone (Jim), Nancy Barnwell, Florida Romero, Nellie Sonnenberg and five brothers, Gilbert, Wilfred, Marcos, Steven (Frances), and John.

I was born in Abo Viejo, a little village adjacent to the San Gregorio Missions. As a child this was a great place to play and have fun with so many brothers and sisters and equally with the many cousins in the area. As a child, we lived in several places, Oakland, California, Las Cruces, Santa Fe, and Estancia until we settled in Belen in 1947. I grew up in Belen and graduated from Belen High School in 1959.

As a teenager, did not look forward to summers because it was a lot of work. We had to get up at 5:00am in the morning to weed the garden; this was how we worked so that we could get our school clothes for the coming year. It was a lot of work, but it didn't compare to the work dad had to do; he had his regular job at the railroad and then he had to water; plant, sell the goods from the garden, etc., no wonder he was grouchy.

After high school I started working at Firemen's Fund Insurance. In 1962 I went to work at Sandia Labs, until 1973. Thought I wanted to stay home, but couldn't quite get used to the idea, so in 1974 I went to work for the federal government at the U. S. Small Business Administration as the receptionist, GS3 and retired the first time in 2001 as the Procurement Center representative , GS13. I trained my replacement and a couple of years later (2004) he passed away and I was called back to my job. I retired for the last time in January 2010.

In 2006, I started traveling to Medjugorje, which became my yearly pilgrimage. A great place to see and visit. I traveled to other countries, Spain, Rome, The Holy Land, Portugal, Prague, Dubragnek, Cancun, Cozemel, Cabo San Lucas and others, which I can't remember, however, Medjugorje in Bosnia is my home away from home, and is considered Heaven on earth by people that visit there.

I have so many things to be thankful for in this lifetime that I have had on earth. First and foremost is how fortunate I was to be raised in a home with 6 sisters and 5 brothers. We weren't rich in material things, but we were wealthy beyond belief in family (14 of us including mom and dad.) I was blessed with three children, Scott, Doug and James. Thank you James for checking on me every morning and evening after Bob died, and you Sister Flo.

I am sure you guys (sons and granddaughters) hated my nagging about responsibility and also those life lessons I harped on. Hopefully some of it sank in; but knowing the Millennial Generation, and the Z Generation, things are just different and you probably didn't pay attention to any of it.

All my life I have been told how controlling I am and how I tell everyone what to do, so why wouldn't I write my own obituary. I forgive anyone and everyone that I need to forgive and apologize to those that I owe an apology to. I have to begin this journey on a clean slate and I ask for your prayers as I journey to eternal life.

Thanks to all of my family for their support, especially my handyman brother in law, Jim, my cousin and counselor, Ramona; who was always there to listen to me, of course arguing about whatever, because that is what we do best. My special patient friend and traveling companion Rosita Bassett. My Rosita, pray for me, friend.

Thank you Peggy and Alice for coming back into my life and spending time reminiscing in our old age.

And finally, to my dear friend, my sounding board, my conscience, the person who made all the rest so easy with his support and encouragement, my husband, Bob Bridge, whom I know left in 2019 to save a place for me with him. I leave this earth with no regret because I had everything I needed – the love and support of family and friends. I thank God that he gave me as many years as He did.

I would like to thank the nurses and aids from Nuclear Care Partners for all their support and help.
