Ulon "Derl" Lovell, 75, of Farmington passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 with his loving wife and son by his side. Known by his family and friends as Derl, he was born Sept. 29, 1933 in Clyde, Texas to Uless and Dortha (Geisler) Lovell. There were four children born to the Lovell family; Derl, Ray, Treva, and Cleta. Derl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. During this time he had two sons with his previous wife, Bo Lovell and Jeff Lovell. After returning to Texas, Derl became a supervisor working in the oil fields and retired in 1992 when he moved to Farmington. After moving to Farmington, he met his future wife Jean Cox. Derl and Jean made their home in Farmington and have shared a rich and loving life together. They worked side by side in real estate for over 10 years. They both shared the love of square dancing and attended many local functions. They both loved the outdoors and seized every opportunity to travel and share new adventures together. Derl was preceded in death by his son, Bo, his father Uless, his mother Dortha, and one sister, Treva. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his loving wife, Jean Lovell of Farmington; his son, Jeff Lovell of Panama City, Florida; two grandsons, Ben Britton of San Angelo, Texas, and Travis Britton of Denton, Texas; one granddaughter, Aubrey Britton of San Angelo, Texas; his brother, Ray Lovell and wife Sandy of Green Valley, Arizona; and by sister, Cleta Bowers, of Hereford, Texas. Derl is also survived by his step-son, George Yeager, of Fruitland; his step-daughter and her husband Melanie and Bob Wright of Buckeye, Arizona; four step-grandsons, Willy and Danny Yeager of Fruitland, and Bobby and Peter Wright of Buckeye, Arizona.
