AGUIRRE - Ventura "Ben" Aguirre, age 78, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. He was born on October 27, 1931 in Grand Junction, Colorado. He served his country during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal and receiving The Bronze Star for meritorious Service. He worked as a machinist until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rose Aguirre; children, Olivia Aguirre-Shaw and husband Stanley, Katherine Aguirre and partner John Jaramillo, Richard and his wife Dianna Aguirre, Sandra Castillo and ex-husband Virgil Castillo; grandchildren Chris Perea and wife Seka, Patrick Perea and wife Felia, Jerome and Joseph Jaramillo, Daniel, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Hannah and David Aguirre, Andrew Castillo, Genie Castillo-Martinez and her husband Gabe Martinez; great-grandchildren Isaiah, Rose and Max Perea, Caudilina Roer, Leviticus Martinez, Alexis Hernandez, Julia Gutierrez, Patricia and Juanito Perea. Also surviving are a sister, Lillian Cisneros of Colorado Springs, CO; and a cousin Lilia Rodriguez of Grand Junction, CO. To his family he was a loving husband, a wonderful father, a role model and a long time servant and deacon in the churches he attended during his lifetime. He loved working with his hands, helping his family and church with his skills and labor. He also loved his grand-children, great-grand children, the outdoors and the UNM Lobos. He was known as a very nice man to all he met. He had a quick smile; he was quick to laugh and will be greatly missed, but remembered fondly. The family wishes to say "Thank you", to all those who have supported us with their prayers and condolences. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
