Veral Vernon Killgore

Veral Vernon Killgore, 85, of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at his home in Bloomfield with surrounded by his loving family. Veral was born in Union City, Ok to Artie and Mary Della (Havens) Killgore. The second of eleven children he touched the lives of many people. He and his wife Erma have owned V&E Industries in Bloomfield for 35 years. He was a true Jack of all trades. He worked on the train and in the mines in Co, the shipyards in Ca. during WW11., he worked at Creamland Dairies when they only sold to local stores, he was a master welder and wood worker and could fix Anything. He worked in the oilfields in the 50's, bean Farms in the 40's. He owned a welding shop in Az, worked at Vernie's Welding in Farmington, built packaging machinery in Ca. worked as a millwright on the local Power plants (until he lost most of his toes) in an accident. He is well known in the community as Santa (this was so important) to him. He visited the old folk's homes, schools, homeless shelters and Coats for Kids every year. His visits delighted the young and old alike and always brought a twinkle to his eyes. He was preceeded in death by his only Son Vernon in 1965, one Grand-Daughter Alicia Herman, one Grandson Nicholas Padilla, his parents, two Brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 yrs Erma (Vaught) Killgore of the family home in Bloomfield; daughters Sue (Robert) Bixler Aztec, Flossie (Danny) Jordan, Linda (Frank) Herman, Shirley (Leroy) Sandoval and Kathy (Felipe) Estrada all of Bloomfield. Grandchildren: Roberta (Ron) Clover of Aztec, Kerrie (Kenny) McFarland of MT, Timothy (Darlene) Burnham of Bernalillo, Duane (Sigenliede) Bixler of Aztec, Kristi Phillips, Shawna (Shane) Johnston of Bloomfield, Holli (Mat) McGuffey of Farmington, Jared (Linda) Edgerton of Bloomfield, Randall (Michael Ranucci) Craig of FL, Beth (Andrew Rios) Padilla of Farmington, TaLor Estrada of Bloomfield. Great-grandchildren: Kenny (Morgan) McFarland, Kasey (Linsay) McFarland, Kory (Jamie) McFarland, Drew (Lindsay) Locke, Jessie (Leslie) Locke, Samantha, R.D., Amber Bixler, Robert, Brittney (Freddie Frausto), Ashlyn, Mikayla, and Meagan Burnham, Brendan and Savannah Phillips, Tatum, Broden, Shae',and MaKenzie McGuffey, Kayla, Kaci and Brian James Mestas, Melodee Edgerton. Great-great grandchildren: Payton, Haylee, Taylor and Ryder McFarland, Jaden, Madison and Charlotte Locke. Brothers: Von (Adele) AZ, Marvin (Alta) TX, Robert (Edythe) Aztec, Eddie (Minnie) KS; sisters: June (Chuck) Salisbury KS, Mary Jane (Francis) Shorter of Aztec. Pallbearers: Henry Polanco, Ronnie Shorter, Danny Jordan, Frank Herman, Leroy Sandoval, Felipe Estrada, Timothy Burnham and Jared Edgerton. Honorary pallbearers: Duane Bixler, , Randall Craig, James Phillips, Frank Sturdevant, Scott Eckstein, Casey Martinez, Matthew DeKay, Bill Nobles and Hoppie Hopson.
