Victor Arthur Byrum

Victor Arthur Byrum of Farmington, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 in Farmington. He was born September 15, 1928 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Mertyle and E. S. Byrum. He was the youngest of thirteen siblings. As a small child the family moved to West Texas in the Muleshoe-Morton area. There Vick grew up on farms and in the oil fields. Vick married Aleene Altman on January 7th, 1951. Vick and Aleene moved to Tucumcari, NM in 1955 and raised three sons, Dutch, Brent and Stephen. In 1976 Vick and Aleene moved to Aztec and bought out an equipment rental business in Farmington. They owned and ran U-Rent It until about 1992. Vick continued to work in the area and helped family and friends. Aleene passed away on July 7th, 2002. Vick was blessed to find and marry Vernita Lavoto and they spent almost seven wonderful years together. Vernita has three sons, Eric, Jason and Billy Jaquez. Vick loved these boys and their families as his own. Vick is survived by his wife, Vernita Byrum, one brother, R.L. Byrum (Bobbie) of Lovington, NM, one sister, Virginia Buckner of Jackson, CA, sons, Dutch (Kay) Byrum of Amarillo, TX, Brent (Twila) Byrum of Aztec, Stephen (Vickie) Byrum of Amarillo, TX, Eric (Teresa) Jaquez of Farmington, Jason (O'Karise) Jaquez of Farmington and Billy (Darcy) Jaquez of Rio Rancho. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jenny Seay, Kelly Akers, Sky Byrum, Dana Snow, Tara Trincipato, Tana Martinez, Aaron Weathers, Brian Weathers, Laramie Hardin, Glenn Hardin, Emily Jacquez, Andrew Jacquez, Hannah Jacquez, Addie Jacquez, Roman Hernandez, Isaiah Franco, Esais Armenta-Jaquez, Gabriel Jacquez and Christian Jacquez and special family Gail Peters and so many, many family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Bonnie Dallas Senior Center, 109 E.
