Virgil Burton Kincaid

Age 87 and a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1988, he went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.  Born June 6, 1927 on a farm in Lucas County, Iowa. He was the son of John Burton and Velta (Bingaman) Kincaid. He held a Bachelor of Accounts Degree from American Institute of Business and took advanced studies at Drake University. Virgil served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS Stormes, DD780 in the Pacific and Atlantic during World War II. He worked for International Harvester Credit Corporation, later known as Navistar, for 42 years, holding many positions in Des Moines, Omaha, and Chicago and retiring in 1988. Virgil was always an active church member, spending 11 years as Treasurer of All Saints Lutheran Church in Albuquerque. He loved golf and was an avid "Go Big Red" Nebraska football fan. He was also very active in his senior living community at Alegria. Married for 17 years to Maria Vancenbrock Kincaid, who died in 1965. He then was married to Betty Louise Carlson Garbett for 40 years. They melded together a family of Betty's two daughters and Virg's three daughters. They loved traveling, visiting all 50 states, and took 12 world cruises. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Velta; two wives, Maria and Betty; two sisters, Vera Noah and Atha Crist; and his youngest daughter, Mary Beth Kincaid,who battled MS for 31 years. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Brogden; four daughters, Marcia (Dewey) Nichols of St. Charles, MO, Cindy (Alan) Austin of Santa Fe, NM, Deborah "Chet" Kincaid of Lincoln, NE, Kathleen (Dave) Darveau of Hemingford, NE; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. A Visitation will be at 1:30pm followed by a 3:30pm Funeral Service at All Saints Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines, IA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Virgil's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate.
