Virgil Vigil

Vigil, Virgil 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home in Socorro, NM. He was born in Holman, NM on June 29, 1936 to Flavio P. and Charlotte (Gallegos) Vigil. Virgil was a resident of Socorro for over ten years. He was best know as Socorro's KMXQ Radio Station Manager and Owner, Operator, and Publisher of the popular Socorro Shopper.Virgil was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed golfing and watching boxing. In his younger years, he, himself, was quite an athlete. He played basketball, baseball, and also had a passion for boxing, Virgil actually went Semi Professional and was a coach for many years. Virgil also enjoyed team roping. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Stella in 2009; and his son, Alvin R.Vigil.Virgil is survived by his devoted sons, Anthony Vigil and wife, Mary; and Norman Vigil, both of San Antonio, TX; nine loving grandchildren; and his brothers, Frank, Benjamin, and Charlie Vigil.
