Virginia M. Rogers, 88, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017, with family by her side. Ginny, as she was known by her family and friends, was born in El Paso, TX, raised in Santa Fe, NM, and spent her life in Albuquerque since 1953.
She met her husband at Colorado University where she was an Alpha Delta Pi, and graduated with a degree in Spanish. She and Jim lived in NYC for two years and moved to Albuquerque so that Jim could work for Sandia National Laboratories. She became a homemaker, and was a past president of The Albuquerque Junior Women's Club, loved bowling, dancing and bridge, and spent countless hours driving her children to various activities. She was also a lover of many Standard Poodles! Ginny was everyone's mom and friend; she never met a stranger! She and Jim traveled around the world with a retirement group from Sandia, and enjoyed many cruises.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister, and her husband of 59 years, Jim Rogers.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie DelMarcelle and husband Pierre, her son Brian Rogers and wife Kay, and her daughter Lesley Weichbrodt and husband Michael, of Seattle. She had five grandchildren, David and Haley DelMarcelle, and Jacob, Benjamin, and Samuel Weichbrodt.
A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend she will be missed! We want to thank the Bee Hive and Woodmark teams, and the NM Heart Institute for all of her compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Humane New Mexico, 615 Virginia St. SE Albuquerque, NM 87108.
