A resident of Rio Rancho since 1975, went home to the Lord, Wednesday, March 2. Ruth was born on August 25, 1916 in Parker, Pa., the daughter of John Plummer and Eva Calhoun Say. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 50 years, Daniel E. Shakley, her brother John Say and wife Pauline; her sister, Jane Shakley and husband, William (Bill). She is survived by her three children Anna “Ann” Heid of Rio Rancho, Larry and Susan Shakley of Ohio, Deborah “Deb” and Michael Schwerin of Sacramento, CA.; six grandchildren and their spouses, Donald and Susan Heid; John and Luana Heid; Jeffery Heid; Catherine and John Lindsey; Amanda and Dean Allender, Angela and Nathan Wilcox; thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth and Dan retired to Rio Rancho in 1975 from Parker, Pa. Ruth loved to garden and was an outstanding applique hand quilter. She was an avid baker and her great pies and cookies were always the family and neighborhood favorites. Her smile and the twinkle in her eye will be missed by both family and friends. She was a life member of the Turquoise Chapter of Eastern Star, a former Rock hound, and attended High Desert Methodist Church. A celebration of her life will held at a later date.
