Virginia Ginny"" Simpson

Virginia Joy “Ginny” Simpson passed away on June 3, 2011 at Life Care Center after a long battle with liver disease. Ginny was born in Louisville, KY on April 3, 1941. She moved with her family to Albuquerque in 1947. She was a graduate of Highland High School and attended Highlands University. Ginny was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a retired insurance agent, working many years at the Walker Agency. She served on the boards of the ARC for several years. Ginny was initiated into Sierra Clayton Rebekah Lodge #32 in 1966, later transferring to San Juan Rebekah Lodge #11 in Farmington. She then transferred to Hope Rebekah Lodge #12 in Aztec where she held membership at the time of her death. Ginny served all offices in the local lodges and worked her way up the fraternal ladder. She was elected President of the Rebekah Assembly of New Mexico in 1985. She served as Rebekah Assembly Secretary from 2004 to 2007. She continued to serve the Rebekah Order, holding offices and committee appointments at the International level. Ginny is survived by her brother, Reverend Douglas Simpson and his wife DeLoy, of Greenwood, Indiana; her nephew Douglas Simpson and his wife Sandi, of Lincoln, NB and her niece Denise West and her husband Kevin of Germany; great nieces Kodie Bowman serving in Afghanistan and Shawna Regan of Norman, OK. She is also survived by her foster daughter Felicia Novotny of Tucson, AZ and grandson Matthew Novotny also of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Virginia Forsythe Simpson. Services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011, with a viewing at 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 211 W. 20th St., in Farmington, NM. Reverend John Preston will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kent Emert, Greg Noyes, Darrell Noyes, Randy Graddy, Mitch Webster, and Andy Shanley.
