Vivian Riegel

Riegel , Vivian "Vi" E. Age 90, has been taken home to be with her Lord to celebrate her new life on Sunday, August 11, 2013. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 14, 1923, to Henry and Margie Bennett. Vivian truly depicted the verse from Corinthians 13:4-7 " Love is patient, love is kind..." as she leaves behind after 65 years her loving husband Charles "Chic"; daughter, Eileen Doench and husband Don; loving grandson, David Alan Doench and fianc�e Kim Parsons; adorable granddaughter, Danielle Averi Panicko and husband Brian; great-granddaughters, Reese and Taylor who lit up her life; brother, Joseph J. Hopper (who called her "The Princess") and family; loving "adopted children"as she referred to them, Patti and Bud Smith, Kathleen Winslow, Cathryn and Marie Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margie Bennett. Vivian attended Newtown High and went onto secretarial school in New York City. She worked at Hazeltine Corporation as the administrative assistant to the CEO until she retired in 1975 and then moved to Rio Rancho, where she was described as "One person that gave New Yokers a good name in New Mexico." Vivian was active in her church, Calvary Lutheran, the New Yorkers Club and went traveling with the Seniors Club. For the past year she was placed in the loving hands of Ambercare Hospice who assisted her and the family till her passing. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM with a funeral service to follow. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 305 Unser Blvd, Rio Rancho, NM. She will be interred at Santa Fe National cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to thank all her friends who prayed for her, visited and who assisted in allowing her and husband to live here and finish out her life in New Mexico on her terms. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be sent either to, Calvary Lutheran Church, 305 Unser Blvd, Rio Rancho, NM; Ambercare Hospice, 2129 Osuna NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113; or Crossroads for Women, 805 Tijeras Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 in her name.
