Walt R. Bode

BODE_Walt R. Bode, 82, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 of cancer. Walt was born June 26, 1926 the son of Arthur Fred and Minnie Annie Giljohan Bode in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Carroll college in Waukesha, WI, and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He had been a former Advertising Salesman for the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel Newspaper for 33 years. He retired in 1985 and moved to Rio Rancho, NM. Walt was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving from 1944 to 1951 in the United States Navy. He was a Magician, and was a member of the Houdini Club of Wisconsin for over 50 years; Albuquerque Magicians Club; and the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 90; and he was a member of the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. Walt enjoyed golf, and was a member of the Chamisa Hills country Club, loved to travel, Jazz Festivals, and he enjoyed playing cards. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bode of Rio Rancho; son, David Bode and wife Lori of Durango, CO; daughters, Janet Homuth and husband Gary of DeForest, WI, and Lynn Swanson and husband Scott of Hiawasee, GA; grandchildren, Kate Adkins and husband David of Columbus, WI, Julie Homuth of Grand Praire, TX, Eric Swanson of Washington, DC, and James Swanson of Atlanta, GA; great grandsons, Benjamin Adkins and Matthew Adkins.
