Walter Preston (Buck) Taylor passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the age of 95 in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma to George and Bertha Taylor on April 29, 1914. Buck worked most of his life in the oil field in Wyoming, Oklahoma, Texas and then in New Mexico where he moved his six children in 1957 after the death of his wife Edith. Buck quit the oil field for a period of time during his marriage to Mary Helen Lake-Kern. He and Mary Helen owned and operated the Turquoise Trading Post. He then returned to the oil field until the mid 1970's. After a brief retirement he began his own small business buying and selling of sheep, goats and pigs to the local families. He was often seen at the sale barn in Cortez, CO. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters, sons Scott, Ronnie, Rickey, Joseph, an infant daughter, and two granddaughters Amanda and Brittany Currier. He is survived by his children Darla (Conn) Brown, Pat (Ed) Lamb, Roger (Debi) Taylor, Cynthia (Michael) Davidson, and Debra (Duane) Currier. 17 Grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He will be laid to rest in Wetumka Oklahoma next to his wife Edith, his parents and sister Blanch. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
