WENTZ - Walter William ("Ted") Wentz, age 83, passed away on March 31, 2009, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and lived there his entire life until July 2006 when he moved to New Mexico with his loving wife, Mary, after being diagnosed the previous year with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Ted served proudly in the U.S. Navy, Seaman First Class USN-I, during World War II aboard the USS Capricornus and was honorably discharged in May 1946. He worked steadily in the field of Interior Display at various St. Louis clothing retailers, including Montaldo's, Franklin Simon, and Golde's. Ted always loved a good party, a good laugh, and will be especially remembered for treating everyone equally, with kindness and respect. He will be greatly Missed, and our family is thankful he died peacefully, in no pain, at home. Ted is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Elenor (Wamser), a Registered Nurse who selflessly tended to his every need, particularly in his final years; his four children: Christopher (wife, Christine; daughter, Ashley) of Corrales, New Mexico; Mary Croft (children Ezra, Abby, Lauren, Emily) of St. Louis; Thomas (wife, Dawn; children Brad, Samantha, Kevin) of St. Peters, Missouri; and Mark (son Connor) of St. Louis; and sisters Annette Yavornik of Hereford, Texas, and Thelma Kohnen of Hendersonville, Tennessee. It was Ted's wish that he be cremated, with his ashes interred at Veterans' National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A memorial in his honor is being planned for family and close friends later this summer in St. Louis. In lieu of flowers or other gestures of respect, please keep Ted always in your thoughts and prayers. Funeral Services have been entrusted to: Daniels Family Funeral Services
