Walter Carl Wyant, 84, of Albuquerque passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at a local hospital. Dad lost his courageous battle with heart and lung disease. Dad's doctor described him as a pleasant gentleman who moved through life with dignity.
Walter was born on February 2, 1931 in North English, Iowa on the family homestead farm. A son of Carl and Elsie Wyant. He attended a one-room schoolhouse and expected he would grow up to be a farmer.
Dad discovered an inclination for electrical engineering while in the Air Force. He met our mother while stationed in Fort Worth, Texas. They married and moved to Iowa. After receiving his electrical engineering degree from Iowa State University, Walter accepted a job at Sandia National Laboratories where he worked for 33 years.
Dad was a dedicated husband and father. He was a supportive husband acknowledging his wife's intellectual and financial skills. He enjoyed being a provider. Dad was proud of his daughters' accomplishments.
As a widower and retiree, dad enjoyed playing pool and socializing at the senior center. His recent enjoyments were socializing with his buddies and daughters, finding the best handicapped parking spaces, eating out, and watching TV. He tolerated (and maybe even enjoyed) going to cardiac rehab along with his eldest daughter for therapeutic exercise twice a week.
He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents and only brother. He is succeeded by his 3 daughters, 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 4 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, and one great great granddaughter.
Dad is greatly missed. The world seems a much smaller place. Dad you are gone from our sight but not from our hearts.
