Warren A. Runnells

RUNNELLS- Warren A. Runnells, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, NM, was called home to our Heavenly Father, on January 3, 2011. Mr. Runnells was born on December 28, 1920 to Bernard and Ohania B. Runnells of New Bedford, MA. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. He also enjoyed playing the saxophone with the U.S. Postal Band in New York City, NY and with several Albuquerque bands. Mr. Runnells was a member of the former Rio Rancho Community Christian Church, which is now First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho. He was, also, a member of Upper Rio F.M. Society, Caravan Amateur Radio Club, MARS-Military Affiliate Radio, Local #802 AFOM in New York City, NY and Local #618 in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Runnells is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Ohania Runnells; his wife, Elaine Nosworthy Runnells; and his brother, Bernard Runnells, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Charisse D. Runnells of Wytheville, VA; his granddaughter, Malini J. Runnells of Wytheville, VA; several nieces and nephews; dear friends and caregivers Toni and Cary Jarvis and became a surrogate grandfather to the Jarvis’ children, Caryn, Samantha, Anthony; and many friends in the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque communities. Entombment will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 8, at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM.
