Wayne Allen Luco

Once in a while someone very special comes along and makes the world a much better place. Dr. Wayne Allen Luco, was one of those special people who contributed much of his talents and himself to family, friends, colleagues, patients, coworkers, and the community.

Sadly our very special someone, Dr. Wayne Allen Luco, peacefully left this world surrounded by family and friends on March 6, 2021 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He is resting in the arms of his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Wayne was born in El Campo, TX, on February 20, 1965 to Jeanette Witherspoon (Dornak) and Gerry Luco. He graduated from El Campo High School and went on to attend the University of Houston where he earned his Bachelor of Science. Following that, he was accepted to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dental Branch where he received his Doctorate degree of Dental Surgery. He practiced 15 years in the Houston area before his best friend Felix Madrid convinced him to move to NM in 2004. He established a very successful dental practice in Rio Rancho, NM. For 14 years he had the same staff that he considered his family. He loved all his patients and wished he could say goodbye to each and every one of them.

In 2005, Wayne met the love of his life Rebecca (Becky) Carrillo, they were married on October 16, 2010 in Rio Rancho, NM, where they made their home. Over the years, their friends became their family. The two of them were very active in the golf and bowling community.

Wayne was a huge sports fan. He not only followed professional and college sports, he found love within the local youth teams. He donated throughout the years to help these young athletes strive to achieve their dreams. Wayne will be truly missed by his family, friends and the community. His selflessness and humble nature will always be remembered. Wayne is preceded in death by his father Gerry Luco. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Becky) Luco, Mother Jeanette Witherspoon and stepfather Terry Witherspoon, and numerous family members.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Daniels Funeral Home. A rosary will follow at 7:00 pm.

A mass is scheduled for Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 1:30 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Internment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd. Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
