Welma M. Pickard

Pickard, Welma M. Welma M. Pickard, 94, passed away August 29, 2013 in Rio Rancho, NM. She was born April 22, 1919 in Hornell, NY to Ernestine Waldorf Bates and Linford Bates. Welma is survived by sons, Leander G. Pickard and Kenneth D. Pickard; daughter-in-law, Renee Pickard; grandson, Ronald K. Pickard of Albuquerque; daughter, Karen L. Pickard of Rio Rancho; sister, Joyce Dunn of Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and loved ones. Welma was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Leander A. Pickard who died earlier this year on January 7; her parents, and brothers, John Halsey and Gordon Bates of Hornell, NY. She came to New Mexico with her husband in 1987 from Meadville, PA where they had lived for 20 years before becoming a resident of Rio Rancho, NM. Welma joined the Covenant Christian Church in Rio Rancho and helped build the church on Iris Road. Welma was a loving homemaker and mother. A Memorial Service will be held at the Covenant Christian Church, 6380 Iris Road NE, Rio Rancho, Friday, September 6, 2013 at 6:00 pm.
