Wilbert Joseph, Jr. was born on Wednesday, January 21, 1953 to Wilbert Sr and Dorothy Mae Joseph in Beaumont, TX. He, along with his family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1964. Wilbert entered the United States Army in 1970 where he served in the 121st Airborne division as an infantryman in Vietnam. His term of service took him to various parts of Asia and Australia. He was honorably discharged in 1973. Upon separating from the military, Wilbert returned to Albuquerque, NM, and married Jackie Lane in 1973. To that union came his daughter Cecelia (Joseph) Harvie and his son, Marcus Joseph. Wilbert has one grandson, Lashawn Joseph. Wilbert attended the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute and the University of New Mexico; where he studied Latin American and African American history. Wilbert enjoyed reading, and could discuss a myriad of topics from international politics to everyday occurrences. Mr. Joseph is survived by his two children Cecelia and Marcus, one grandson Lashawn Joseph, his sister Linda Brown, his nephew Theodore Canty, two aunts Edna Joseph and Margurite Banks both of Labadieville, LA, two nieces Martina Joseph and Ameerah Canty and a host or relatives and friends. Wilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert Sr and Dorothy, and his brothers Robert and Peter. Wilbert was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He will be missed by many. A visitation will be held Monday, May 6, 2013, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1509 Edith Blvd SE, Albuquerque. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, 11:00 am, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1509 Edith Blvd SE, Albuquerque. Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
