Jones, Wilbur Dale 96, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013. Dale was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Kitty. He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia, Marilyn and Barbara, and by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dale was an inventor and a rocket scientist whose career spanned five decades and took him from New York to Atlanta, Michigan and finally Albuquerque where he retired as a Registered Professional Engineer with classified security clearance at Sandia National Laboratories, where he worked on the Pathfinder and Trident Missile. He held numerous patents and invented dozens of pieces over the years, which he gave away as gifts to friends and family. Dale was a Yankees fan until his dying day and enjoyed golfing, walking his dogs and smoking cigars while cruising his 1963 Corvette Stingray. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 23, 1917, Dale was the last remaining Jones to carry on the family name. He will be remembered at a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 am at Daniel's Funeral Home on Wyoming, with burial of his ashes immediately afterward at Sunset Memorial Park.
