Wilfred Barela

Barela, Wilfred "Willie" Age 86, beloved father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 24, 2013. He was a resident of Alameda, where he was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Willie enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, keeping up with the current events and especially spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Edwina Barela; his parents, Eulogio and Piedad Barela; son, Randy (Randolph) Barela; siblings, Dolores, Claude, Eulogio, Jr., Eloy, Robert and Viola. Willie is survived by his loving children, Carmen Johnson and husband Walker, Claudia Montoya, Willie Barela, Jr. and wife Josie, Marcella Torres and Fermin, Lorraine Ryals and husband Ricardo; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and his first great-great-grandson on the way. Also surviving are his brother, Ernest Barela; other numerous relatives and countless friends. Willie will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 Fourth Street NW. Service of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Casket Bearers will be Pablo, Nathan, Leo, Michael, Nick and Jordan. Honorary Bearers will be Errol, Daniel, Leonard and Christopher.
