William D. (Bill) Hickman, 83, of Aztec, passed away Monday, September 14, 2009, in Aztec. He was born March 16, 1926, in Farmington, NM. Bill attended Aztec High School and Fort Lewis College for two years. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific. Bill married Alice Sullivan in 1948 in Aztec. They were married for 61 years.
He was employed by Southern Union for 35 years. Bill was a past Elder and Trustee of the Presbyterian Church of Aztec, Board Member of the SJRMC Indigent Fund, Lifetime member of the DAV, and a member of the Aztec Museum Association. He loved camping, boating, fishing and gardening. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Logan and Margaret Ellen Gilmour Hickman; brothers, Todd and wife Patricia; sister, Beth Wallace and husband Boyd. Bill is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Darlene Womble; sons, Larry Hickman and wife Sandy, Gary Hickman; and by three grandchildren, Aaron, Amy, and Anna; six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Gary Hickman, Danny Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, Harley Stotts, Devin Verhulst, and Aaron Hickman. Honorary pallbearers are Mark McCarty, Gene Hamilton, Richard Blancett, Jackie Graham, Buster Webb, Artie Sullivan, James Netcher, Larry Hickman, Drew Emborsky, and Johnny Lane.
