September 1, 1933 — April 17, 2024

William (Bill) Robert Fishburn passed away peacefully at his home in Albuquerque on April 17, 2024. Bill loved his family and especially his beloved wife of 30 years, Christine. He is preceded in death by his son, John Fishburn. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Sara Fishburn-Gerety and Collin Gerety, many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, his sons, Peter Fishburn, Joseph Fishburn, and Toya James.

Bill was born September 1, 1933, in Freeport, IL. He went on to serve his country by joining the AirForce during the Korean War for four years. He then went to the University of Illinois and earned his B.S. degree and then continued his education to receive a M.A. in counseling psychology at the University of Missouri and a Doctorate at the University of Arizona. His Doctorate led him to the University of New Mexico where he was a professor for 30 years. He retired from UNM as a professor emeritus.

Bill dabbled in his favorite pastime buying and selling antiques, cowboy and Indians relics, and memorabilia.

His professional time was spent in his private practice. He served as president of local, state, and national organizations. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A special thank you to Harmony Hospice services, and especially to our angels, nurse Ashley & patient attendant, Celeste (Celestial) for your love, patience, & going beyond your job to help. We would not have made it without you.
