Bill passed away after battling cancer, on July 24, 2016 at the age of 90. He was born in 1926 to Alberta and William High in Carlsbad New Mexico.
He is survived by his wife Mildred (Millie), his sister, Margaret who lives in Carlsbad and three sons, Mark, Steve and his wife Yvonne, Scott and his wife Laura and six grandchildren, Mark Jr., Steve Jr., James, Jacob, Emily and Brian and five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jazmin, Mark III, Lainey and Lexi.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son Eric who died in 1976 from leukemia.
Bill has always been active in sports. In high school he played basketball and football for the Carlsbad Cavemen. In College, he played football and was on the track team for the University of New Mexico. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He served in the Army during WWII and spent a year in the occupation of Japan.
In 1968, Bill started a business, Concrete Systems (CSI). His company sells concrete construction accessories. Bill has many contractor friends, as well as those in the construction distributor organization. In 1971 he opened another office in El Paso Texas. In 1968 he founded an organization called Associated Construction Distributors International (ACD).
Bill began the hobby of bicycling in his fifties. He regularly participated in the 104 mile El Tour de Tucson and the Tour of the Rio Grande Valley for many years. He cycled in the senior Olympics around the country. Bill was a member of the Masons and was active in the Shrine Air Patrol until his death.
A memorial service will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St NE on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:30 am. A viewing will be held prior to the service at 9:30am
In lieu of flowers donations may be given in William's honor to Concrete Systems, Inc, PO Box 3625, Albuquerque, NM 87190. 100% of the donations will go to bicycle safety education.
