William D. Houston

September 18, 1944 — July 2, 2018

William Houston, Captain Bill, passed away on July 2, 2018 on his way back from Elephant Butte Lake.  He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ruth Houston; stepson, Bryan Maglidt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobson and Mary Ray Houston, of Albuquerque.  At age 13 he became an Eagle Scout and was an honor student at the Albuquerque boy’s academy when it was first established. After serving in the Marines, He went to UNM and became a licensed surveyor.  William retired and went on to become a tour boat captain at Lake Powell. He is retired from the US Coast Guard auxiliary and has been active in the Hawks Aloft.  He will be missed by many. We will be remembering him on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 1:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Home, Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM.
