Age 93, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019. Deacon Matlock was born in Sparkman, Arkansas,  September 7, 1926, to the parents of Jewel and Millie Matlock. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Annie Pearl Tate and Mary Brooks, and one  brother, Cecil Matlock. In 1960 he moved to Albuquerque from Little Rock Arkansas. He was employed and worked many of years at Duke City Lumber Company. He joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Mock. When the church called Rev. Ronald J. Knight as their pastor, Deacon Matlock continued working in the church.

Deacon Matlock was the handyman for the community.  When ever,  you needed anything done you would call Deacon Matlock. There was nothing that he could not fix..  He was the true example of a Deacon. Honest, faithful, hard worker in and around the church, a great family man, loved mankind and would do whatever he could to help anyone.
