Owen, William H. Jr.
Age 61,of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016. He was surrounded with the presence of his Heavenly Father, family and friends. Bill was born July 29, 1954 in Chicago, Ill.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife Judy, dedicated and caring daughter Brandi, loving grandson Conner, sister Kathy Hau (Larry) of Aurora, Ill and sister-in-laws, Donna, Jan and Mary. Bill is preceded in death by his son, Cody and his parents, Bill Sr. and Verda. Bill felt that the greatest gift he could give to the world was the good news of God's love, his children and grandson.
Bill was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He served 23 years active duty in the Air Force Fire Service and served in Illinois, North Dakota, New Mexico, Belgium, Germany and Saudi Arabia. Bill was extremely proud of his duty as an instructor for the U.S. Air Force Academy and Operation Desert Storm-Southern Watch. Upon his retirement from active duty in 1999 he immediately began a new career for the Pueblo of Sandia working in Sandia Tribal Gaming Commission as an Inspector/Auditor.
Bill was a member of DeMolay (past Master Councilor) and Masonic Lodge. His home lodge was in Crete, Illinois. Bill enjoyed reading spy novels and this is when he would say "I'm off again traveling to various destinations of the world to stop the bad guys". Bill was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals that began in 1963. He was passionate about baseball so much that he enjoyed the years of coaching kids, especially Cody and his time he worked or the Dukes.
The most passionate thing about Bill was his love of God. The last 10 years he began developing a relationship with God that he said was the most important relationship he ever had. Bill was a member of Sagebrush Community Church and served there in the Greet Ministry and active in a small group. The small group became Bill's favorite time of the week every Saturday evening. He loved the studies and sharing what God has placed in his heart. The small became more than a study group, they became family to do and share his life with. Bill was much attuned to people's appearances when they looked down. He would provide a small pocket Bible and this was his chance to witness how they could have a relationship with God, how God forgave them, loved them, and took their sin away. Bill always said you can get to heaven if you only believe with your mind and your heart, ask for forgiveness, and repent. You cannot earn it, so believe and accept the greatest gift ever given through the blood of Jesus. Now Bill gets to go home and be in the presence of God, something he looked forward to. Bill's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Presbyterian Home Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 5:00 pm at New Life Church, 2701 American Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
