William Kee Yazzie

Yazzie died Jan. 10, 2010, in Chinle. He was born Feb. 14, 1941, in Valley Store, into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Red House People Clan. Yazzie served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He served his country from 1963-1969 as a radio teletype operator. His hobbies included reading western books, fixing radios and stereos. He was a crossword puzzle solver and Dallas Cowboys fan. Survivors include his son, Cornell Yazzie of Chinle; daughters, Roberta Hardy of Chinle, Samantha Yazzie of Grand Canyon; sisters, Frances Yazzie of Seattle, Florence Davis of Phoenix, Bessie Denetsosie of Chinle, Marie Draper of Chinle; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Yazzie was preceded in death by his parents, Kee Yazzie Jumbo, Keebah Zonnie Martinez; wife, Bertha Marie Yazzie; brother, George Kee Yazzie. Pallbearers will be Quintin Ryan Yazzie, Carnell Cornelius Yazzie, Benny Hardy, Ronald Sandoval, Floyd Baldwin, Edwin Yoe.
