Willie Torres

 Torres, Willie Age 81, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his home in Socorro, NM with his family at his side. He was born in Engle , NM on July 29, 1936, to Evangelisto and Domitilia Anaya Torres. Willie grew up in San Antonio, NM and Socorro and joined the Navy before he finished high school. He served two world tours on the USS Midway from 1955 to 1958. Willie met the love of his life, Toni Jojola while he was on leave and they have been married for the past 58 years. He enjoyed working on the farm when he was growing up and he continued that after he retired from the Bureau of Reclamation. Willie was a very devoted family man and he adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed carpentry and he coached little league baseball for approximately 15 years. Willie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Freddie Torres and Andy Torres; sister-in-law, Jean Torres. Willie is survived by wife of 58 years, Toni Torres; daughter, Katherine Torres; son, Raymond W. Torres; grandchildren, Shannon (Jaron Contreras) Peralta, Alisa (Matthew) Gonzales, Sherree (Domingo Rodriguez) Torres, Amy Peralta, Kendra (Jacob Austin) Peralta, Raymond (Tiffany) Torres, and Gabrielle (Kenny Brown) Peralta; great grandchildren, Gabriel and Kristen Peralta, Matthais Contreras, Talia Austin, Ma'Leah and Tatum Brown, Amanda and Jordan Torres, Isaac, Nathaniel, Kadence and Caleb Gonzales, Trinity, Troy, Mya-Lynn and Knight Torres; sisters, Josie (Albert) Montoya and Gloria Medina; sister-in-law, Petra Torres; niece, Crystal DaSilva; and many other nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield St, Socorro. Rosary to be recited on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 9:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with Communion Service to follow at 9:30 am. Deacon Nick Keller to officiate. Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service. Pallbearers will be Jaron Contreras, Gabriel Peralta, Kristen Peralta, Amy Peralta, Kenny Brown, Amanda Torres, Sherree Torres and Crystal DaSilva. Honorary pallbearers are Kendra Peralta, Shannon Peralta, Gabrielle Peralta, Alisa Gonzales, Raymond Torres, Jacob Austin and all of Willie's great grandchildren.
