Willie Chavez Trujillo
June 19, 1930 – April 21, 2016
Jose Guillermo Abran (Willie Chavez) Trujillo, age 85, resided for the past 10 years in Rio Rancho, NM. He previously resided for 53 years in Barstow, CA. Willie passed away peacefully in his home due to natural causes incident to age on Thursday, April 21st, 2016.
Willie was born on June 19, 1930, in Casa Colorada, NM. His parents were Juan Trujillo and Luisa Chavez. He had eight siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. Their names are: Enrique, Nestor, Florenio, Espirion, Jose, Jesus, Herman and Adan. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen (Cooky) Trujillo Alcantara.
Willie enlisted in the Army at age 19 and served during the Korean War in Germany. After an honorable discharge, Willie secured employment at the Marine Corps Depot in Barstow, CA, where he served the remainder of his career as a depot level overhaul mechanic for marine vehicles.
At the conclusion of his two year Army commitment, he married the beautiful Florinda Barreras in September of 1952. He is survived by his wife, Florinda, and daughters Peggy Trujillo Nielsen and her husband Lt Col (U.S. Army retired) Harold Kriss Nielsen of Idaho Falls, ID, and Sandra Trujillo Baca and her husband Leroy Baca of Lucerne Valley, CA; his sons, Steven Alcantara of Rio Rancho, NM, Daniel Boyd of Ft. Bliss, TX, and Angel Cordova of Rio Rancho, NM; 9 grandchildren: V. Kriss Nielsen, Steven Alcantara, Valancy Nielsen Bastian, Jared Nielsen, Adam Nielsen, Deanna Nielsen Dickson, Cooky Baca, Adrian Baca, and Seth Nielsen; 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Willie’s favorite hobby was restoring antique vehicles. Willie had a very compassionate nature and he loved animals. He spent a lot of time visiting and providing compassionate service to his brothers during times of illness. Willie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
