Brian Thomas Doody passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico of a heart attack.
Brian was preceded in death by his mom, Sylvia, his dad, William, and nephew, Matthew Thomas Wade. He is survived by his loving sisters Patricia Doody, Susan Wade (Rusty), and brother Bill Doody (Cheryl); nephew David Mazzarella (Rainy); nieces Chrissy Fanelli (Bernie), Trisha Wade, and Brittany Wade; great nieces Sylvia and Norah, and great nephews Brody and Rorick.
Brian was born on April 21st, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois to William & Sylvia Doody. He grew up taking camping trips “out West” with his family and in 1973, they moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He graduated from Cibola High School, Class of 1982.
In 1988, Brian started working with Creamland Dairies and stayed with them until his death. He was known by his coworkers as an honest, good person and a hard worker. He always gave his all.
Brian appreciated the little things in life and did not need much to feel content. He was a lover of nature and all creatures great and small. A duck hunter from way back . . . although he didn’t get out there as much as he would have liked, it stayed in his heart forever. Over the years, he picked up hobbies that brought him joy in his off time -- remote control cars and planes, camping, hunting, guns and fishing (I’m sure you’ve all heard some of his camping and fish stories!). He was a nostalgic guy and loved to watch old shows and movies on TV – Love Boat was one of his favorites; Rudolph and Disney’s Those Calloways could only be watched at the proper time of year, of course. :o) Brian liked to learn about history and was very intrigued with the Vietnam War; watching movies, listening to stories from co-workers, and reading about it.
Family meant a lot to Brian. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and reminisce with his siblings about old times. He was always up for a good game of Yahtzee with the group and he LOVED TO EAT!! Oh boy he loved to eat!! A tall man/gentle giant standing at 6’4”, he would have his plate HEAPING FULL and then go back for more! He didn’t do too much cooking but did have two special recipes that will stay in the family – “Brian’s Infamous Chicken Soup" and his Dad’s “Pheasant Under Glass.”
Brian will be remembered as a wonderful and caring brother, a hard worker, a great friend and neighbor, a loving uncle, and a very strong person. He was just a nice guy. His genuine and kind heart will never be forgotten and he will live on in our many wonderful memories and stories. Brian’s reward was not on this earth, but is forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Road, Suite 100, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910.
Gone too soon.
