Christina Solano was called home to our lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. She was born May 21, 1933 in Colima, Mexico to Jose Samora and Refujillo Arechiga.
She was a beautiful girl who caught the eye of an American cowboy, Patricio Solano of Miami, NM, who was working in Mexico at the time. They would live in Springer, NM and were married for 49 years when Patricio preceded in his journey to heaven.
Christina was a busy woman. She was known as a fastidious housekeeper and as a great cook. She spent her time as a seamstress sewing everything from wedding gowns to cheerleader uniforms to robes and vestments for the church including one for Archbishop Robert Sanchez. She loved the church and was an active member. She taught catechism, sang in the choir, joined the Altar Society, and utilized her cleaning expertise throughout St Joseph’s church. She also spent many hours gardening and nurturing her roses that she loved so much. She would eventually slow down to spend the remainder of her years in Albuquerque, NM loving her grandchildren and watching telenovelas.
She is survived by her brother, Mario Arechiga, of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico; eldest son, Carlos Solano; grandson, Carlo James Solano; granddaughter, Alicia Solano-Garcia; husband Darrell Garcia; mother Bernadette Solano; son, Patrick Nestor Solano and his wife Jennifer Solano; grandson Logan Patricio Solano; granddaughter, Sage Marie Solano, and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
A Rosary will be held at 8:30 am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Shrine of Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Road NE Albuquerque.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 also at the Shrine of Saint Bernadette’s, with a reception following the mass at 11:00 am in the Parish Hall.
Inurnment will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St. in Santa Fe.
