With deepest sorrow, we announce that Jonathan James Chavez (Jay Jay), age 29 our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend passed suddenly on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

Those who knew Jonathan lost a bright shining light in their lives. Jonathan will be missed each and every day by his daughter Lucia; his son Malcolm James; father James; mother Betty Jean; sisters Roxanne and Crusita; his brother in law PaulRay; his nephew DeAndre; his niece Gabriella; his grandmother Juanita; his Uncle Erik, his Aunt Glendora, his stepmother Drita, his loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many, many great friends.

We remember how he combined his love of martial arts, amazing acrobatics on a pair of roller blades, his sense of outdoor adventure, his commitment to his children, his skills, work ethic, and anything automotive that always brought smiles to those around him.

We reminisce about his ever-present smile and the warmth, depth and intelligence behind it.

Most of all, we recall the sheer pleasure of his company, how good he made us feel, how free we were to be ourselves around him, and how much we will miss him.

We know Jonathan is now with his son Joseph, his Yaya Pilar, his grandfathers Manual and John, and is loved here on earth as well as in heaven.

Due to Covid restrictions services will be held at a limited capacity of 65 for the Memorial Service to be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
