Margaret Marie McQueeney, Marge to friends and Sis to family, was born in Bemidji, Minnesota, March 5, 1932. At the age of 2, she moved to Indiana where she graduated from Southport High School and took her first job at Ft. Benjamin Harrison Army Finance Center. There she met and then married Sgt. Richard (Dick) Graves Cowdery. Dick took a position as a US Army Attaché and Marge as a secretary, and for the next 29 years they travelled the world including Jordan, Syria, Tunisia, Cameroon, Romania, Paraguay, and the Pentagon until Dick was honorably discharged from the US Army as Chief Warrant Officer 4. The happy couple spent the next 40 years stationed in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, toured in their R.V, and volunteered in Santa Fe National Park and Jemez Mountains. Dick passed away after their 60th wedding anniversary and Marge continued to volunteer at the Rio Rancho Library and Meadowlark Senior Center, travel with friends, and stay connected to family. She is survived by niece and nephew Nancy and Alan Schuff, great-nieces Jennifer Cooper, April Leonard, Shannon Watson, and great-nephew Christopher McQueeney as well as their children.
