Thelma C. Johnson
Age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2017. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 27,1925, to Chester and Gertrude Meriweather.
Thelma graduated High School from the famous Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She went on to receive her Undergraduate Degree from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Married the love of her life, Dr. George Clarence Johnson on November 19, 1949. G. Clarence Johnson was a retired doctor, and U.S. Navy Petty Officer/Pharmacist veteran in World War II. They spent 67 years happily married. She was employed by the Indianapolis Public Schools for 29 years as a first grade school teacher and Reading Consultant for the Indianapolis Public Schools District. She loved many forms of cooking and was an excellent cook. She loved spending time with family, and enjoyed playing the card game Canasta. A member of the Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, IN and Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, Rio Rancho, NM.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Gertrude Meriweather; son, Keith Johnson; brother, Chester Meriweather (Barbara); sisters, Eunice Van Horn (Earl), Erma Richardson (William),
Barbara Shepard (Bobby). 
Thelma is survived by her husband, Dr. G. Clarence Johnson of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Kevin Johnson of Rio Rancho, NM; brother and sister-in-law Dr. Charles and Betty Meriweather of Indianapolis, IN; a host of nephews and nieces throughout the country.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, 11:00 AM at Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church 1004 24th St. SE, Rio Rancho, NM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Thelma's honor to Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, 1004 24th St. SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Thelma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
